555 Timers - Pack of 5 (Retired) NE555, DIL package • RoHS Compliant
This product has been retired and is no longer available for purchase. The information below is for reference purposes only.
There is not much more you can say about 555 timers that Wikipedia does not already say:
The 555 timer IC is an integrated circuit (chip) used in a variety of timer, pulse generation, and oscillator applications. The 555 can be used to provide time delays, as an oscillator, and as a flip-flop element.
These are NE555P dual-in-line single-timer ICs from TI, so they are easy to work with on standard 0.1" breadboard. They are a very valuable part of introductory electronics as they allow you to generate sound frequencies, flash LEDs and generate constant PWM using just a few passives instead of a microcontroller. We really hope these types of simple ICs are integrated into high-school electronics classes, as they are incredibly powerful, inexpensive and simple to use.
These come as a pack of five. The datasheet for these specific devices is below.
